| Day or night, the Red Cross will send blood, provide laboratory services or expert medical consultation. Through the American Red Cross, hospitals in this community have the benefit of local service and a national network of experienced professionals.
The Red Cross provides hospitals and patients in southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware with an array of transfusion support services including:
- Lifesaving blood products delivered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year;
- Physicians and technical experts available for consultation around the clock;
- Products to meet special patient needs such as granulocytes and HLA-matched platelets;
- Intraoperative autologous transfusion;
- Reference laboratories that identify and locate compatible units of platelets and red cells for patients;
- The American Rare Donor Program; a joint American Association of Blood Banks and Red Cross program that assists patients who need rare blood across the country and world;
- Therapeutic apheresis and photopheresis services
- Hematopoietic progenitor cell collection, processing, cryopreservation and storage services
